Principal's Message

PACeS is a new and exciting opportunity for Adventist students living in Alberta.  Currently we are offering grades K-12 and each grade will have a web page that a student may access and link to fun learning activities.  In the coming year we will grow in our relationship with each other and learn in many exciting ways.

In order for you to be a part of this learning adventure it is necessary to have a computer and access to an Internet connection (high speed connection if possible). These two components will enable you to enjoy many learning opportunities and to communicate with your teacher and classmates.

Our learning Management system is "Moodle" and our virtual classroom is "Elluminate".  They are very easy to use and a training session is available upon enrolling in PACeS.

PACeS offers Alberta -approved course materials (paper-based or online).  We will follow the Alberta Office of Education time line for standardized tests (CAT3) and will also be a part of the government testing for Grades 3, 6 and 9.  Each student will receive three formal reports per year.

We will work with email, phone, website and fax to communicate.  403-342-5044 ext. 200 is the number to use during normal office hours.  The fax number is 403-343-1523, and the e-mail address is jhall@albertasda.org

History

Founded in 2007, Prairie Adventist Christian eSchool, is part of the Seventh-day Adventist educational system.  This educational system is the largest protestant education system in the world and has been in existence for over a century.  We will draw on this experience and combine that with new technology to enable us to bring you Adventist Christian education no matter where you live in Alberta and Canada.  Given the SDA education philosophy of recognizing the role of parents as the primary educators of their children, this school will be a natural fit.  It makes sense that Distance Learning  be offered to SDA parents, because many see the need of an Adventist component in their home program .

We offer grades K-12.

What makes us different??

Christian - Is it important for your children to learn in a religious environment, and be able to use Adventist Christian curriculum resources in your DL program?  If so, then you should enroll them in a Seventh-day Adventist DL school.

Direct
- Parents are an important part of our learning equation, however, each learner is also provided with direct access to his/her teacher, who administers and evaluates the learner's educational journey.  Students can contact the teacher by phone, e-mail or through direct online tutoring.

Home Visits - PACeS will make at least 2 home visits to all full-time, PACeS registered students within a reasonable distance of the school, to establish individual learning plans and provide assistance, feedback and advice on their progress.  You will meet face-to-face with your teacher in the virtual classroom and you will communicate with your teacher on a weekly basis to report your child's learning.
